Cerium Oxide Glass Polishing Compound 50g

Cerium oxide is used for polishing, cleaning and mark removal in glass and crystal.

Highly refined pure powder, with no sharp edges, fast acting scratch removal.

• Also suitable for polishing marbles and ceramic surfaces.

Cerium oxide, also known as ceric oxide, ceric dioxide, ceria or cerium dioxide, is an oxide of the rare-earth metal cerium.

Using: 

Measure out the proper proportions of heated water (at least 30ºC) and Cerium

mixed with water to form a thin paste (about the consistency of double cream)

Polishing glass is a combination of mechanical and chemical action - the paste must reach and maintain a certain temperature to stimulate the chemical reaction.

For more aggressive surface repair (scuffs, superficial scratches, blemishes, adhesive residue) you may need a more aggressive paste and mix with only a little water.

For general clean-up or surface maintenance mix with more water.

Note - If a scratch can easily be felt with a nail it may be a little too deep for simply using cerium oxide, other polishing grits should be used.

GUIDE for polishing glass & windscreens:

Clean thoroughly - remove all dust.

Apply a thin layer of paste directly on to the selected surface.

Polish using a felt polishing wheel in a drill, you can also use a professional mechanical polisher for polishing.

Keep a an even pressure against the glass, a milky looking slurry will then form, & continue polishing until the slurry is dry.

Spray water to the pad or glass and repeat this process as many times as necessary until the glass is visually clear.
